Following our visit to Logan last week, we learned this week that the first of the women at Logan Penitentiary have opened negotiations for a sentence reduction by agreement with the prosecutor, based upon the new law that Bill Ryan, Barry and I have ushered through the IL General Assembly.
I hope all our friends realize these women are not monsters. Even if you may have thought so at the time of their offenses, given the sometimes adverse publicity they got, that was decades ago. They should get freedom after all these years. Many have served 30 or more years for a temporary maternal mental illness!
