Connecting as Another Tool for Recovery

In my last blog entry, I focused on sharing as a way to help in healing from postpartum depression. Another means toward recovery is in connecting to others.

I know that if you’re depressed and/or anxious, it’s likely the last thing that you want to do. You are more likely to be socially avoidant and withdrawn from friends and family. I never said this was easy, but I do find it helps my own patients to re-connect and begin to work on appreciating their relationships with friends & family members.

We know that social connections in the elderly is a good way to ward off depression, so consider it may be helpful for you too!
